Cascade Handcrafted - New Jersey Latewood Project
The New Jersey Project.
Here we’re getting set to build this gorgeous Western Red Cedar hybrid home for a wonderful family in the state of New Jersey!
Cascade Handcrafted worked with a local private property owner in British Columbia to Selectively Harvest and clean up some windfall after our early spring windstorm. The selective harvest allows the light to shine through and give the undergrowth and new trees a chance to thrive.
The logs found their way into the projects we’re working on destined for New Jersey and Ontario where it will stand for potentially hundreds of years, rather than being processed to end up in an anomalous lumber rack.
A few pictures of the Late Wood logs for the New Jersey project, we are currently washing the logs and locking in the first course.
The wood has amazing shape and character.
The Cascade team is working on the New Jersey project and the way this project is shaping up we had to start with building from the top down so not a lot of change in terms of stacked wood but many beams are completed. We aim to start stacking in a couple weeks.
The Cascade team is reassembling the log home after shipping the logs via semi truck to New Jersey.
Here’s some great pictures from the client of the log home being stained. Looks stunning with the unique flares of the western red cedar.
