What is Latewood?
Latewood refers to the winter growth of the tree where by using high pressure water we remove the bark and inner cambium layer exposing and preserving the inherent surface which is full of character and unique contour that most would never have believed existed. The result of harvesting a Western Red cedar log in the winter months is a naturally shiny, soft to the touch log, to build a stunning log home.
The pictures below show a uniquely stunning home was built for a great client in Wyoming, it was built using 15-17- 20″ average Western Red Cedar with a “Latewood Finish”. The Latewood finish is very much different than the traditional drawknife finish that most everyone associates log homes with.
