Over a decade ago, Cascade Handcrafted Log Homes had the honor of building the Squiala First Nation Longhouse. These Warren Trusses were very unique in that they were to cover a total span of 100’ the clear span was 60’ with two 20’ wings.
The 60’ clear span is an impressive structure, built with Douglas Fir, each truss required one bottom chord and one top chord measuring 24” minimum and carefully positioned to disperse the massive load it had to accomplish.
We transported each truss with a 53’ trailer as each one weighed 30,000 pounds and stood 8 feet tall. They were positioned on large Homes Western Red Cedar posts using two 30 ton cranes working in tandem from either side of the Long House foundation.
Truly one of the most interesting jobs Cascade was called and proud to be a part of and if you would like to see more pictures from this project please click here.
